British American Tobacco

Langley was commissioned to replace the defective flat roofs on Building 23, the global Research and Development facilities for British American Tobacco. The site remained live during the project, so security was paramount and it was particularly sensitive to disruption.

A full condition survey was carried out by Langley, in conjunction with TSL, a Langley Approved Contractor, who then installed the specified waterproofing system with meticulous care. Plant and air conditioning units on the roofs were fully operational throughout the project and evening and early morning works were incorporated to minimise disruption.

Together with RBM roofs, liquid membranes were selected for some areas to accommodate the design challenges of working around plant rooms, problematic penetrations and potential fire risks. The completed roofs are protected by a Langley insurance-backed guarantee for the next 20 years.
