Paddock School

An extensive roof condition survey was undertaken by Langley which identified numerous layers of waterproofing including a false plywood deck on tapered battens (firrings) installed directly above the original metal deck of this Special School. The complex build-up meant that the specification and design of the refurbishment was technically challenging, and required careful consideration.

Langley’s TA-20 system with a bespoke tapered insulation scheme was selected as the best solution and Thameside Roofing Ltd, a Langley Approved Contractor, worked closely with the main contractor and the school to ensure that the scheme was installed to specification, whilst ensuring minimal disruption to the vulnerable pupils. Additional challenges were highlighted once the works had begun and Langley technical staff, working alongside Thameside Roofing Ltd, adjusted the complex tapered scheme to accommodate a change in levels of the original deck.

Despite the challenging conditions, the works were completed on time and within budget, so the school can continue to focus on learning and safeguarding priorities knowing that the roof is protected by Langley’s independent insurance backed guarantee for 20 years.
