Tamar Way

Langley’s comprehensive survey provided confidence that the roofs of these four London housing blocks could be overlaid. Despite their poor condition and an accumulation of moss and gravel, the insulation layer was shown to be dry.

An overlay was specified in preference to stripping back the roof to the deck as there is less waste created, which is a significant environmental benefit. It also enables the client to increase the insulation and extend the life of the roof with a renewed waterproofing system, for less expense.

Access to the site was very restricted, and was only possible with a Cherry Picker. Engie Regeneration Limited (Keepmoat), a Langley Approved Contractor, carried out the work to a very high standard. They were able to utilise the existing membrane as a temporary covering, during the carefully planned sequence of work across the four blocks. This ensured that there was no disruption to the residents, and the building owners now benefit from a 20 year independent insurance backed guarantee on their roofs.
