Linton Mead Primary School

Langley was commissioned to carry out a roof condition survey for a school which had suffered leaks to its three roofs for over 20 years. The resulting specification included innovative design to resolve a range of problems that the survey had identified. Langley’s design and specification made the roof accessible for maintenance purposes where previously some areas could not be reached at all. Langley’s comprehensive survey provided confidence that the roofs of these four London housing blocks could be overlaid. Despite their poor condition and an accumulation of moss and gravel, the insulation layer was shown to be dry. An overlay was specified in preference to stripping back the roof to the deck as there is less waste created, which is a significant environmental benefit. Alec Hunter Academy

Langley worked on this planned asset management roof refurbishment project, carried out in three phases, to update and give this academy a new lease of life. A comprehensive roof condition survey identified that some roofs could be overlaid, while others had some structural issues, including two decaying Trofdeck roofs which required completely stripping back and rebuilding from joists up. Langley was selected to carry out a full condition survey of the flat roofs by Hampshire County Council, the design consultant and project manager for this installation. The work was part of a major upgrade to the buildings across the school’s estate.
